  1. Time to Stock Up!

You may have seen those extreme couponing shows where people have huge stockpiles of food and toilet paper. They strategize and plan to amass their collections for hours on end but I’m not one of those people.

I do recognize deals when I see them and if you’re planning on grilling this weekend or even for the rest of the year then I suggest you head out to your local Lowes or Home Depot and pick up some Kingsford charcoal.  Both are featuring a sale on charcoal.

    Lowes

    Home Depot

Total Weight 40 lbs. 27.8 lbs.
Weight 2-20 lb. bags 2-13.9 lb. bags
    Price $9.99 $6.88
    Price per lb. $0.249 $0.247

As you can see from the chart, you make out pretty much the same either way you go. It’s just a matter of how much charcoal you will need. I tend to go for the larger bags and plenty of them.

The sale should last until Saturday but why wait, go get yours today because I know I will.

  2. Summer Stockpile

I was walking into Walmart and there by the door was a display for charcoal at $5.49 for 30lbs. After a quick inventory check I realized I was running low. I had 120 lbs. left in storage (6 bags of 20lbs) from what I had purchased last year. Of course I loaded up a cart with 150 lbs. and off I went.

Check your local Walmart for pricing and availability. I hear they don’t all have 15 lb. bags. Some have 13 lb. bags at either the same or a lower price.

  3. Trunk Full of Coals

Yup, that’s 120 lbs of charcoal in my trunk. Unfortunately my gym clothes are in there somewhere so I don’t get to workout tonight. Guess I should’ve taken my trip to storage a little sooner. See yesterdays post on where you can get yours.

  4. Time To Stock Pile

Home Depot is having a great sale on charcoal starting today through the 7th.  40 lbs of coals for almost half off.  A great bargain. I’m heading out tomorrow to pick up a few bags myself. I’ll try to leave you some if you’re lucky.

  5. Lessons never learned

It never seems to amaze me how much I get so caught up in the process of grilling that I miss the simple things. Take for instance boneless chicken breasts.

I know that if they’re too think I should whip out my mallet to flatten them or a knife to butterfly them. I seem to re-learn this lesson a lot. Hopefully someday it will stick.

  6. Happy 4th and Safe Grilling

July 3, 2011 by BBQ Jim

It’s 4th of July weekend which means fireworks and grilling.  Whether you choose to have one or attend one make sure you enjoy yourself safely.

Also whether you’re grilling this weekend or not, head over the Home Depot and pick up a 2-pack of 20 lb Kingsford Briquettes for $7.97 until July 7th.  That’s almost half price so stock up for the summer!
